THE RESTAURANT

“Dans le Noir ?” in NYC is located in a large Modern-Industrial space a typical new York area, a few blocks from Broadway Shows. Close to Penn Station, BAT, Lincoln Tunnel, on most main metro lines, in a quiet street with free parking most of the night time, it’s easy to access from every NYC areas.

The restaurant is organized into different areas :

- A large Bar and Lounge where people are welcomed and where we take orders. The Lounge is open daily for guests to have a drink in a warm and friendly environment.

 - A large Dining Room in the dark, up to 72 seats. All has been organized to minimize accidents and to increase security. The dark room is monitored by infra-red cameras, which decreases the chance of any problems or issues arising.

- A basement with lockers and restrooms designed to make visitors more comfortable before dining in the dark.

- An ante-room allows visitors to enter the restaurant without any intrusion of light. Dans le Noir ? has a special security system, as well as clearly indicated emergency exits which light up if needed. All safety and emergency procedures have been approved by the Authorities to ensure customers’ safety.

 
The food order is taken in the lighted Lounge before visitors are led to the dark Dining Room. Guests are advised to arrive 30 minutes prior to their meal so they can enjoy a cocktail while learning about the proposed dining concept and receiving a full explanation of the ordering process.

Our blind staff will act as your guides in this completely unknown environment. They will welcome you in the lighted Bar and Lounge, lead you into the dark Dining Room, and take care of you throughout the entire experience. They will assist in seating you, serve you your food and drinks, and most importantly, make you feel comfortable in the dark. You will be surprised to find yourself so relaxed in this completely new and unique atmosphere.

  
Customers are encouraged to use the bathroom prior to entering the dark room so as to avoid any interruption to their experience. No one is allowed to move around in the dining area without a guide’s assistance. Alcohol is served in the Lounge, as well as in the dark room. However, there is a limit of 3 alcoholic drinks, or a half a bottle of wine per person when dining in the dark. The venue is not open to persons under the age of 18. Groups with at least one patron under the age of 21 will not be able to order alcohol in the dark room.

  
All visitors are required to sign a waiver before entering the dark room, and are obligated to follow the strict security instructions. If they do not follow these rules and regulations, they will be escorted from the dark room.

   
Any inappropriate behavior such as excessive noise is prohibited. Our staff reserves the right to ask any group to leave the dark room due to inappropriate behavior that is disturbing to other patrons within the restaurant. Unlike other restaurants, all patrons must understand that at “Dans le Noir ?” there is a chance that they will be dining at the same table as other guests. It is a big part of the experience to meet other people in the dark.
