Guests can choose from a limited choice of 3-course, prix fixe, Surprise Menus. The idea is that each guest should not know exactly what he or she will be eating…just the general category. It’s all about the flavors, the textures and the seasonings. It is an old principle often used in the industry, called “blind tasting”.
The concept behind our menu is to re-educate our guests’ palates and minds, to make them truly experience the flavors being presented. Totally deprived of light, your eyes can’t deceive you, so therefore, all preconceptions are gone.
At Dans le Noir ? we do not ask you what you would like to eat, but rather what you cannot eat. We consider all your dietary requirements when taking the order, and always make certain you won’t be served any ingredients to which you are allergic. Thanks to these precautions, every visitor can explore the adventure and enjoy the great excitement of our Surprise Menus.
The Surprise Menus are created in various alternatives according to the season. The menus change every three months. Special menus are proposed from time to time to reflect specific Holidays (calendar events like Halloween, Saint Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, etc…) Our "Travel Days," themed menus are also used to reflect the cuisine of certain countries. Pricing varies slightly, depending on the seasonality and market price of the products and ingredients. We also offer blind tastings of our wines and spirits. For blind wine tastings in the dark, just give us a budget and we'll take it from there.
Coffee, tea, and other hot drinks (for safety reasons) are not served in the dark, but are available in the lighted Lounge at the end of the experience. Wine bottles in the dark are served with a special sleeve that can help prevent the bottle from breaking.
Each menu, along with a complete description of the items, are presented to the guests as they exit into the Bar and Lounge area. Patrons will also be informed about the Surprise Wine, or Specialty Cocktails they were served.
At Dans le Noir ? we strive whenever possible to serve only the freshest ingredients: line caught fish, free-range and grass-fed meats, seasonal and organic vegetables. We also try to propose fair trade products. Our cuisine is created by local chefs and inspired by Olivier Romain (a French Chef based in Tour). The approach of cooking at “Dans le Noir ?” is to increase taste in the dark, as well as to separate taste on your plate with a pedagogical and interesting organization.

If you have additional allergies, please let us know prior to ordering your meal, so that we may make the necessary changes to your menu. Also, when seated in the dark room, please remind your Guide/Server about these restrictions when they bring your plate.
